Why do eucalyptus trees grow so well in Portugal? Where did the eucalyptus trees come from and how did they arrive to Europe? What is the tallest plant in the world? What is the difference between an indigenous and an exotic plant? What is the difference between the oak gall and the acorn? How do eucalyptus trees help protect natural forests?
These are some of the questions that we will answer in the various botanical trails of Quinta de S. Francisco. Currently, Quinta de S. Francisco has five botanical trails defined by different degrees of difficulty, as well as a set of support structures (walkways, directional, identification and interpretative signage) that help visitors. It also has a leisure area with tables where you can have a picnic.
Along the different trails, the visitor will be transported to the flora of different parts of the world, with special emphasis on the Australian flora.
Among the various species of herbs, shrubs and trees, the eucalyptus trees stand out with their remarkable size, being authentic living colossi that impress those who visit us.

Gardens
Short trail, which allows walking through the gardens of Quinta de S. Francisco, as well as the entire area surrounding the buildings, among them the former home of Jaime Magalhães Lima.

Deciduous Forest
Small but varied course that runs through the deciduous forest, the riparian forest, near the ditch and the bamboo areas.

Trail that shows the noteworthy specimens of greater size existing in Quinta de S. Francisco.

Trail of average dimensions that crosses through the deciduous and riparian forests and the gymnosperms arboretum.

A large trail that crosses through the limits of Quinta de S. Francisco, in it one can see the gardens, as well as the eucalyptus arboretum that grows on the slopes and in the valley.
